What to Expect
Visiting a new church can be intimidating: What should I wear? Where do my kids go? What's the worship service like?
We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to give us a call.
When are services?
Services are on Sunday mornings at 10:30a. On Sunday morning we also have Bible studies at 9:30. This is a great time for us to dig into God's Word, challenge each other by discussing the text and be encouraged by genuine fellowship. We meet on Sunday evenings at 6p for more of the same. We also meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 for Bible study and fellowship.
What are the worship services like?
From what we understand of the Bible, everything about worship is supposed to point us towards God. We worship Him because He's worthy; and all the attention of our worship should be fully devoted to Him. Because of that, we just try to keep our worship simple. We sing together, we pray together, we'll listen to the message from our preacher and each week share the Communion together. At the end of our service we always have a time when we share prayer requests and announcements with each other. We think you'll appreciate the atmosphere once you worship with us.
What should I wear?
We want you to wear whatever you are comfortable in. Most of those who attend wear what is best described as casual or business casual, but the most important thing is not what you wear, but that you come.
Where is the Church building?
Our address is 4321 State St. We're located just west of 48th. Click here for a map.
Where should I park?
The parking lot is in the back of the building. Just follow the drive way around to the back. If needed, you'll see the overflow parking in the grassy area.
Where do my children go?
If you come for Bible study at 9:30 then they will go to their age-appropriate class. We'll have greeters there to meet you and show you where the classes are. During worship they'll stay with you. We worship together as one big family. That's something we do on purpose. Worshipping together is a wonderful and formative experience.
We also have a staffed nursery if you would like to leave your infant or toddler. Of course, you're welcome to stay in the nursery with them if you prefer. You'll be able to listen to worship from the nursery.
Am I expected to put money in the offering?
Definitely not. That's like being invited to someone's house for supper and them expecting you to bring the supper. The offering that we take up during worship is offered in faith by our members in order to support our ministries.
