Two Dads Are Just Fine???

Many religious groups are actively trying to keep step with our morally tolerant society. Yet they are having to change their moral stance on homosexuality and same-sex marriage. Some seem to resolve the issue by polling thier members and planting their feet on the ground of 'member opinion.' It's Not Father's Day (But You're Still the Dad)

(Bulletin article for 08-02-2015, by Mark Stinnett)

Part 1: Head of the Home

What does it take to be a dad? It is more that simply being born male and later having kids of your own. While many things can be said about fatherhood, three responsibilities fall squarely on the shoulders of fathers:

A father is the head of his household;

A father is the primary disciplinarian of his children; and

A father is the spiritual leader of his family.

These three roles are derrived from the Apostle Paul's instruction found in Ephesians 6:4. Read this and the subsequent articles to better understand God's expectations for fathers.

Validated

(Bulletin article for 12-13-2015, by Mark Stinnett)

How do you know?

(How do you know what?)

How do you know what to believe?

The Bible makes a statement about life, but your life experience seems to differ.

Do your use you life experience to validate the authenticity and relevance of God's word, or does God's word validate your life experience?

Wiser

(Bulletin article for 12-20-2015, by Mark Stinnett)

Can you answer every question asked you about God or the scriptures?

Some questions promote doubt.

Some questions promote contradiction.

Some questions oppose simple truths presented in scripture.

There are foolish questions! Some do not deserve an answer.

How can we be wiser so that we are not misled!?

All Joked Up

(Bulletin article for 01-03-2016, by Mark Stinnett)

In our fast-paced, entertainment-driven society even our pulpits have become a place for silly stories, anecdotes from joke books, one-liners, and play acting. Is that really what God intended? Is that really helping anyone?

In this article I share with you my solemn commitment.

Happiness or Joy?

Which is dependent upon one's circumstances? Which one lasts?

Which is better?

Which is a promise?

It's not about whether you use the right word. It's all about possessing God's promises.

Body Life

(Bulletin article for 01-17-2016, by Mark Stinnett)

In our school district they called it an 'early retirement incentive.' It was a nice way of encouraging older teachers to retire so that younger (and less expensive) teachers could be hired. If you do not produce as expected a business is likely to fire you or lay you off (indefinitely). Some offer severance packages when an employee is let go; many do not. That's how some people think in big business and education organizations.

What about God's organization, the church. How does God deal with those in His church when they grow old? What about the weak? What about the ones who can no longer 'produce' as they once did?

God's church is an organization, but it doesn't work like your typical business or educational organization.

The Lord's Supper: Why the Bread???

(Bulletin article for 01-31-2016, by Mark Stinnett)

Counterbalance

(Bulletin article for 02-21-2016, by Mark Stinnett)

The Office of Weights and Measures promotes uniformity in U.S. weights and measures laws, regulations, and standards. Do we really need a government organization for that?

Have you ever heard of the "National Conference on Weights and Measures"?

This organization, which began in 1905, has a 16-member board of directors and dozens of members serving on committees from the public and private sectors. Its reason for existene is to develop national weights and measures standards.

There sure seems to be a lot of time, effort, and resources just to make sure everyone uses the same system of weights and measures. Is all that really necessary? Is that just a recent concern?

Believe it or not, even God is concerned about weights and measures!
