We are saved (from God's wrath) by grace, not works, wrote the Apostle Paul. So, obviously, some reason, baptism cannot not save you. Yet, baptism is clearly connected to salvation in some way; just read the Great Commission, the book of Acts, or the letters of the Apostles to the church. But how is baptism connected???

Some folks say they were baptized because they love God and want to show others that they are saved...but are they sure that even makes sense from Scripture?

The title of this article assumes that you have been baptized, yet, some believers choose not to be baptized.

When you look at Christianity in America you'll find all sorts of teachings and practices about baptism. Among those who are baptized, some are not really sure why. Others can give you a reason, but they can find nothing like it in the New Testament; not a teaching, not an example.

This article is the first in a series exploring the various reasons people give for being baptized and how those reasons compare to bilbical teaching.
