Are the Proverbs Believable?

(Bulletin article for 09-16-2018, by Mark Stinnett)

I confess; I have a streak of sarcasm that emerges from time to time...on one occasion, Bible class. The teacher had just read from the Book of Proverbs. He then told a long story about his experience that validated (not merely illustrated) the wisdom of God. I thought, "Oh! Now I see! It IS true! I can believe what God said because you have had an experience that validates it! O great Swami, what illumination your experience brings to the Holy Word of God."

Ok. I didn't say any of that aloud (I was taught respect), but I thought it. Who did he think he was that 'his' experience validated God's word? What if...yes, what if he read a proverb that his experience did NOT validate?

Are the Proverbs believable...???

People argue over issues. People rage over issues. People take action over issues.

How is the Christian supposed to respond?

One of the greatest issues of our day is over the question of homosexuality. What do Christians need to know? What do Christians need to do?
